It is a great pleasure to invite you to participate in the UK Continence Society 16th Annual Conference. The UKCS initiative celebrates the development and advances of the management and promotion of continence and creates a great opportunity to bring a wide range of skills, techniques and debate for the advancement of our specialty, to improve the quality of care and quality of life for our patients.

The 2009 Conference will now offer new features to the programme reflecting the training needs of delegates to update on skills and information.The conference will encourage research leading up to the event to then be reported on via free paper presentation and posters. Updated information will be available on the programme page in due course.

The conference expects to attract over 300 delegates (this reflects earlier conference numbers) and confirms the importance of this event to all grades of staffworking in the field for the promotion of continence both a hospital and primary care levels, bedside nursing to audit management to surgery and physiotherapy,community and primary care support and confirms the event's significance for contact with specialists and the promotion of equipment and services.

A major section of this Conference is the contribution of companies to the goals of the event – updating on skills and information by contributing to teaching sessions and sponsoring educational sessions,and updating delegates on product usage throughout the event.

UKCS Conference Reporter

Introducing a new feature in the UKCS Conference Programme and profile opportunity for leading companies in promoting continence.

The UKCS would like to send a senior trainee to Cairo with the objective of reporting on the main developments presented at the ICS Conference.

Applications will be invited from UKCS Member and non members who attended the years UKCS Conference from all specialities contributing to the promotion of continence. Each year a new reporter will be 'awarded' the role.

Applications will be made to the Scientific Committee with a short CV and 500  word 'article' on how they would go about reporting the event (Deadline 30th July 2008). Each year the reporter will be required to write a report on the Conference highlighting the top 10 relevant lessons presented. This article will be published on the UKCS Main website with a link from the Conference website after an oral presentation has been given at the UKCS Conference.

Applications must be endorsed by the Head of Department and study leave must have been allocated.

Advertising for the position of reporter will be on the UKCS website and on this Website. Additionally profile will be emailed to UKCS members and be advertised in the new UKCS Newsletter.

Sponsorship of the UKCS Reporter.

The UKCS is seeking a sponsor for the reporter with a three year commitment. For 2008 reporter the sponsorship is £2,500 towards the Conference. Sponsorship will increase by £750 for the final two years making a total budget commitment for sponsorship of £9,750 over the three years. The Sponsoring Company will attend to the reporter's travel, accommodation and registration to each ICS Conference and to the UKCS Conference. Registration to the UKCS Conference will be provided by the UKCS.

In return, the sponsoring company will have their company name associated with the 'role' as:

UKCS Reporter supported by an educational grant from LOGO.

This will be posted on all materials associated with the promotion for applications on the website and with the articles on the websites and in the UKCS Conference Programmes and Newsletters. Promotion for 2008 reporter will be direct to delegates who participated in this year conference. For 2009 onwards the award will be promoted to all members and other delegates who would benefit from attending the UKCS Conference.
